  • Some notes from thoughts,

Last night after the playoff game I heard the quarterback answering a question in an interview, “We played our butts off and our hearts out in that game.”  If so, then the win was not worth it.  Because there is no way they are going to be able to win their next game without their butts and hearts.  Especially their butts, which they need to land on.

There are hundreds of millions of galaxies visible to us using our best scientific equipment.  There are even more that we can’t see.  Our own galaxy is one hundred million light years across.  And yet there are some girls that constantly assert, “I am so fat!!”

In times of immense struggle and anxiety, we despair and think there is no way that life could ever be happy again.  It seems in the vague and undefinable future, there is no possible way that the pain we are feeling could ever evaporate.  And yet, once life does settle back down, we do not feel the ultimate satisfaction that we thought would come with the cessation of our problems.  Thus, to solve this, I think we should take time to meditate; to close our eyes and reenter the state when life seemed infinitely hopeless.  Enter back into the mindset of eternal anxiety.  Then, once adequately depressed, open your eyes and realize that your present state of life does not include such destructive problems, but is rather relatively wonderful.

I think I will have a video of myself talking to my funeral guests to play at my funeral.  In it I will something akin to, “Hi!  Thanks for coming to my funeral.  Please don’t worry about me; things are fine.  Remember to live life well, and don’t despair that I picked the best epitaph ever.  Enjoy the food and come back again real soon.  Bye!”  And perhaps I could also install an audio button to put on my tombstone that would give a similar message.

Hope the new year is finding you in high spirits!  Farewell!

  • This got my attention: And yet there are some girls that constantly assert, “I am so fat!!”

Actually…I think its good that some people recognize their overindulgent behavioral problems. The bible speaks (in the old testament) of a King Og of Bashan. His name means the fat king of plenty. His people fell because basically, they thought they were untouchable, and they took things for granted due to their prosperity.

Therefore…if someone is recognizing that their immense size is a reflection of having too much…perhaps a spirit of greed and an attitude of nonchalance, or of taking things for granted, I think that’s a good thing. It’s possible that they are on the road to recovery from such a poor state of being and might actually be taking the first step to thinking outside of themselves and caring about others. Peace.

  • “Enter back into the mindset of eternal anxiety. Then, once adequately depressed, open your eyes and realize that your present state of life does not include such destructive problems, but is rather relatively wonderful” is both a profound yet simple statement. I think we would all do well to consider the possible benefits of that little exercise next time we are feeling overwhelmed with what we are facing. Thanks for sharing!

  • Imagine how creeped out people would get walking by the row of tombstones and all the sudden one starts speaking to them..   That cemetry would def. be tought of as haunted. Hee hee.

  • (that is if you had it set to a motion light)

  • Great post!!

I like the idea of a motion detection sensor on a tombstone.  I could imagine mine would say, “Where’ve you been — you never have time to visit do you??”   The mother guilt trip to the end!!!

  • A truly harmonious friendship will never exsist between facebook and xanga if one never writes. Facebook has merely helped me to better know what is going on in everyones life while simultanously allowing me the conveinence of never (well… hardly) ever updating… it’s quite the vicious cycle really.

I read your post. Very inspiring. I would like to know what your epitaph would read… or say :)

By the way.. i’m not sure i remember you. Have i met you before?

  • loose “Pearls” strung together by an engaging wit and taut observation

  • Which presidential candidate do you like most? Leaning towards anyone in particular?

You seem to be a pretty smart guy, so I was just wondering what your opinion was on the matter.

  • Have you ever seen the Robin Williams movie “Toys?”  When his father dies he places a battery operated “can of laughter” in the coffin, so that anyone walking past the grave will hear laughing coming from beyond.  I think that push button idea is really, um, something.  Have you thought of obtaining a patent?

  • hey. so i started pensees. good book so far, but i had no idea that its basically notes he wrote for a bigger book he never finished. anyways thanks for recommending it.
