  • Thoughts and Maxims for Living Life

Imagine being put in a small closet with one other person and being told you will die in an hour.  That is what life is like, just with more room, more people, and more time.

A person may read many books.  But understanding them is the point.

All of life is simply spent determining what will be said at one’s funeral.

Most people think freedom means the freedom to do.  But it rather seems that true freedom is the freedom to know.  I would rather be locked in a cell for all of life while knowing the truth than to have an eternity of time to do anything I wanted while not being able to know the truth.

Do not expect other people to do what you have not.  If you encourage them to do so, your words are empty, as your mind speaks of meaning outside its grip.

The way you live your life, in total, is what you think the truth is.  If life were a download bar that started with a question mark in its background, you living your life would be slowly completing the download, until your life is over and your answer is revealed.

  • I like this quote that Winston Churchill said: “History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.” Your post made me think about that.

So I take it that you are a fan of Scrabble? lol I must admit that I try my fervent best to memorize little words that include “Z” or “X” in them. You know… the high scoring ones. Its been awhile since I’ve played though… so I should definitely brush up my skills.

I think I might just post links to my favorite YouTube’s sometime soon. I have a very random sense of humour that some people might or might not appreciate… but thats a risk I’m willing to take. British comedy is utterly hilarious, but its completely unfortunate how much language they throw into their sketches. While the whole premise of the video makes people roll around on the floor laughing, the language they insert makes it hard for me to publicly share. Such a shame.

Oh completely agreed. If there is someone famous around me, its hard not to get just a little excited but thats what they’re expecting and so I’d rather do the unexpected and avoid the gushing. I’m all for treating them like real people.

  • Freedom to know, the desire to understand and the quest for truth are some of the best things that life has to offer.

  • you have a lot of interesting views. what really stood out to me was the statement about expecting what you wouldn’t or haven’t done yourself.

  • oh STOP. I didn’t condemn the Xangan society, I’ve just moved neighborhoods! Gol-LY.

  • This reminded me of the Norman Rockwell paintings called the ‘Four Freedoms.”
They are: Freedom of Want, Speech, Fear, and Worship. I guess he should have painted a ‘Freedom to Know.’ ;-P

I tried to put a picture of one of the paintings in with my comment, but I guess it’s not allowed. lol. Here is a link if you are at all interested in the paintings. :)

  • derrickcomedy is hilarious! I’m watching a few right now.

  • Thanks for the comment on my post ‘Sheltered’s Journey’ :)

  • Mmmm. Yeah. I probably have no chance of winning that Scrabble game with you throwing words at me like “compendium” which… I admit… I had to look up in order to find the exact definition. And no, I’ve never played speed scrabble which sinks me even further from hope. ;)

The British ones are marvelous… I would have posted a lot more but there are those occasional words that creep into the script which I just can’t support… as I said earlier. Such a shame. But Man Stroke Woman has quite a few other funny ones.

The actors on derrickcomedy are really really good. The sketches are hit and miss as you say… but I definitely enjoyed most of the ones I saw.

  • Hey, your posts are really…insightful.  I’m gonna be back to read some of them so don’t get scared if you see me all over your mini-feed.

  • 21st century Yoda, you are.
